Is the Net safe?
No.
Not even close. The Net is as safe as a dark alley on the bad side of town when you have loads of cash and it is 5 days until payday. There are bad guys lurking in the shadows; actually they are just standing out in the open. Heck, Nelly & Fabien wrote me today asking for money!
I just moved this off to a page, so I can show the mail between me and the scammer.

As the web became more social SEO shifted away from simple algorithms match to the creation of remarkable ideas. In the past a person contacting me for SEO assistance would have been the web developer and today it is the marketing department.
Listed are some social sites that you will need to get on. Easier said than done, even getting a new site listed in Google or Yahoo can take weeks – a social site needs to see activity to get the buzz going about your site (hence the blogs entries). Social status has the greatest possibility of changing your page ranking of all SEO efforts at present.
So, these little things are the most important for the beginning work in home-grown SEO. If you pay someone to work for you, they will begin with the same items, plus they will add in standard PR work and advertising. I am going to advise advertising, but only after the core SEO aspects are completed. This is the only way to verify if you are getting your SEO right, before going into advertising.
