The difference between getting traffic to your site from LinkedIn or FaceBook might come down to your niche. I have not seen (I have not looked for) any groups related to pets on LinkedIn. Just an assumption here, but you would probably do better on FB. I belong to groups on project management and I have yet to see a serious FB group on that subject.
FaceBook probably has a hundred silly groups for each serious group where LI is serious groups all the way.
So, if your target is into FB, go there. If your target audience uses LI, go there. Are they on both sites? Use both. It all comes down to your niche.

I always thought LinkedIn was a site to just write up an online resume, I didn’t know it evolved into a social network you can use to drive traffic to your website. Although facebook might be the best way to utilize groups or fan pages I’m sure using LinkedIn wouldn’t hurt as well, the more traffic the merrier.

Like Ching Ya, I too am intimidated by LinkedIn. Since I don’t think I have something to offer to a group in there, I did not really pay much attention to it. But If I knew I can bring in targeted traffic from that site, I would have had tried sooner.:D Thanks!
