Internet Video Marketing is getting better and is becoming more mainstream. Videos are being used on websites much more productively than in the past. Since a video is easy to edit it is possible to make multiple language versions of one video by simply dubbing the voice.
Internet Video Marketing is most effective when:
- The product has something special about its motion or sounds that the client will benefit from hearing.
A very well known commercial spoke of the virtues of Alka-Seltzer with the famous “plop, plop, fizz, fizz” song while we watched 2 tablets dropped in water and begin to dissolve. Many Americans can remember that song (and can still sing it). The product was thought of it as an important medical product when in fact the original Alka-Seltzer was primarily aspirin and baking soda.
- The product or service is complicated and the client benefits from a demonstration.
The product itself may also not be horribly complicated, but new and odd. Imagine reading the first print advertisement for a trampoline. “You can lose weight and have fun while jumping on a large piece of material attached to an iron frame by really big springs.”
- Very expensive items that a client may fear buying without seeing, for example a luxury car or a new home.
Even a 30 second video is much more impacting when trying to sell a house than “3bed 2 bath, 4 car covered garage and work space, stacked stone, w/view”. For a hose, using slowly changing panoramic style still pictures with a voice describing what the viewer sees is better than plain photographs.
A luxury car is a decision that most people will not make online. Drawing attention to a new luxury item is already difficult but with video the options of seeing the product from all possible angles increases dramatically the possibility of a sale. There was a luxury car that came out several years ago that offered a free video cassette to their potential clients and 8% of those that received the cassette purchased the luxury car, 5500 cars in total.
- Special items that the client may need shown exactly how it works, or simply that it works
If someone made a car that ran on water the idea of a car would not be new and it would be difficult to see the internal function of a motor. Showing the car having water being poured into the tank and then driving away would be very impacting.
- When your product has special manufacturing needs and want to show how your perform a service or produce a product
It can be valuable to show the cook in a restaurant doing something that they are known for.
Having the team of a “clean room” dressed in their protective clothing and manufacturing a medical product.
Surgeons performing cosmetic procedures can all be very impressive to the viewer.
- When you have a valuable endorsement or testimonial
Clients are naturally cautious, especially when dealing with something new. There are some people that will simply say what is best about their own product and this can remove some of the fear of making the wrong buying decision.
If you have a well known person that is willing to endorse your product, get it on video. If you don’t have someone famous, then you make one long testimonial with different people speaking. There is a general faith in a large number of people speaking for your product. We look for reassurance that we are doing the right thing and who is better placed to explain the benefits of your product or services than your best clients – people that have already purchased your product.
Take advantage of the Internet Video Marketing possibility and if appropriate make multiple language versions of your video. Targeting at least these six areas and consider targeting a foreign audience, which may open a new stream of revenue for your products at little additional cost. Consider all the possibilities where video can work for you, this list can not be all inclusive, every person can have an idea on how to make video work better for their product or service. It is not only one web page that can benefit from your video, place the video where it will help your sale the most. Practice, and try new things, and stop doing the things that don’t work. Video can work for you!
