Video marketing is becoming more mainstream and videos are being used on websites more productively than in the past. Since a video is easy to edit it is possible to make multiple language versions of one video by dubbing the voice. If the person speaking is famous and you want to keep their voice, subtitles are simple to create and to add on top of a video.
Internet video’s can be used on your home page, it is best if the video does not launch automatically because there are people that don’t like the intrusion and prefer to have audio and video optional. There are several companies that create video that seems detached from your actual site and even when the screen is scrolled, the video will remain in one corner. This is very effective when the video is in the bottom right hand corner and has a white background. The white makes the video very evident. This type video can be set to play automatically or to launch when selected by the user. Some versions allow the video to start after a set amount of time.<
Never hide your video but place it on the left side of the screen in the zone where a person will naturally see it. Have text or a graphic pointing to the video very briefly stating the topic and length of the video. Given he choice between 2 videos, one of unknown length and one clearly marked as a three minute video, a client is more likely to watch 3 minute video because they know the maximum amount of time that they are committing to.
If you launch your video automatically make sure there is an easy way to mute the video or to stop it. If you do not have these options you will have a very high percentage of your site visitors that will simply close the browser window instead of being tortured by a video that they did not choose to see or hear. And yes, that is how some people think about video.
A video or set of videos on a subpage can be a very effective sales tool. With a link from your main page that clearly states the “video tutorial page” or “video testimonial page” will attract a certain audience. Those who choose to go to a video page a usually going to watch at least one video.
When making a series of tutorials you have to be sure to make a link from the end of the first video to the second, drive the client to the next video.
Including a link in your advertising, newsletter or ezine can be very beneficial. Your audience is already receiving some form of communication from you by their choice and adding a well defined link to a video or video series can be powerful. This is a good way to increase your time with the reader, but only if your video is well done. Remember that there are some products that sell better with audio and video and if your product is one of these then make sure you take advantage of video.
It is becoming more common to have a video on a sales page or a squeeze page. Very often the sales line will follow each benefit with a brief video. Following an online sale it can be useful to send the client to a thank you page with a video that offers something that only paying clients get to see. This would be a product specific video or an upsale to the next level of product. This was done on American television for year, a voice that says
‘but wait, that’s not all! If you act today… And include an option that you have reserved for people that have already made the first purchase.
A final use for a video can be to include clips on your site of what will be included on a full length DVD that you are selling. Similar to the preview for a theatrical release of a movie you can have an online video that gives 15 to 30 second of your presentation. This is being used well on several sites that sell the DVD’s to a past seminar. One site in particular changes the video weekly and includes a very useful one minute bit of information. The Seminar was spread over several days so it will not be possible to get more than a few bit of useful information, and that would be spread out over weeks. Since the information is changed weekly it does drive some return traffic.
Take advantage of the Internet Video Marketing possibility and if appropriate make multiple language versions of your video. Targeting a foreign audience may open a whole new part of the world to your products, and little additional cost. Be selective on where you place your videos, your clients have to see the video, but should not think that video is their only option. Consider all the possibilities where video can work for you. It is not only one web page that can benefit from your video, place the video where it will help your sale the most. Practice, and try new things, and stop doing the things that don’t work. Video can work for you!

Good post. I just started putting video’s on my blog… well, at least youtube videos. I would like to learn more about videos and how to build my own videos or put my own comments or subtitles on videos in the future.
